Shasta Charter Academy Advisory School Board
As an independent charter school, SCA has its own School Board, which has been authorized by Shasta Union High School District. Public meetings are held throughout the school year and the public is invited to attend the meetings and learn more about how the school operates.

Leslie MacRae

Leslie MacRae is member of the Board and has been connected to the school for many years. Leslie worked as a special education aide and tutored student at SCA for many years until she retired at the end of the 2014-2015 school year. When she retired, she promptly volunteered to serve on the SCA Board in the role as a community member.
Leslie enjoys spending time traveling, paddleboarding, and being outdoors with her husband, Rob. She also enjoys any opportunity she has to spend time with their 2 grown sons.

Don Hess

Don Hess recently became a member of the Board at SCA. He retired in mid 2019 from Kaiser Permanente in Rancho Cordova, CA as a medical physicist. He and his wife Susan moved back to Shasta County in 2020 where she has 3 brothers living in the area. Don was referred to the Board by Matt Wahlman. Don is an avid woodcutter, car and motorcycle enthusiast. Don and his wife Susan live on 2 acres in Anderson with a big puppy - 88 lbs - and 3 cats with her horse stabled nearby.

Des Comer

Des Comer was born and raised in Redding. She lives with her family on a small chicken farm. Des has previously served on a local elementary school Board, and has been on the SCA Board for many years. She has had multiple children attend SCA and graduate from SCA.
In her spare time, Des enjoys countting eggs from her chickens, giving back to her community by volunteering her time at the shelter for homeless cats, and spending time with her children.

Carlie Hinderscheid

Carlie Hinderscheid has only been a member of the Advisory Board for a short time, but as a former student of Shasta Charter Academy, has seen first hand the excellent effect the school has influenced on our youth. She works in health care and is a mother of two athletic kids who attend an elementary
grade charter school. In her free time she loves to travel, sing, read, and keeps busy cheering on both kids during all their sporting events.
